The pre-snap stance, like any other position, is the starting point of any play. Having a routine, defined stance that is the same for every play will allow each quarterback to focus on other details, such as what front or coverage the defense is displaying. While the specific stance may change from coach to coach, it is most important to keep a routine stance that becomes second-nature over time. With our QD2 Quarterbacks, we teach the following coaching points: - Feet should be roughly shoulder width apart
- Either right or left foot forward (we prefer left to eliminate false steps), back foot toes lined up with arch of front foot - Left foot all cleats in the ground to help push for depth if necessary - Slight knee bend, athletic position! - Hands up at least above belly button, finger tips pointed up - Relaxed shoulders - Scan defense right to left, left to right pre-snap - No indicators! (Always pull hands up right before snap, weight shift before snap, etc.)
